Linnea with her dog Moomoo!

This is a guest post by Linnea Locsin from her blog over at http://www.linnealocsin.com. Linnea is an amazing singer and marketer, and she owns Singer Savvy, an online community for singers to learn about singing, improve their own voice, and mingle with the community. She helps you find your voice and become an amazing singer through fun, relaxed, and extremely effective singing lessons (I would know – I took them!). Linnea is a good friend of mine so when she wrote this post on her blog, I loved it and I knew that I had to ask her if she would let me post it here on my blog too! And she said yes! So without further ado, here is Linnea! 🙂

7 Things That Make Life So Good Right Now

1. Vitamin D

aka…. vitamin sunshine!! This is a given.  The sun makes everyone happy! As we near summer, I’ve been making time for more lunches outside. And after a long stretch of work i’ll take a book out, sit in the sun and all sudden I feel calm again.

Oh man — this alone is making every day a little sweeter.  I feel happier and notice the difference in the overall quality of my day.

All you need is 10 minutes! Take a break! Go find the sun. Vitamin D is good for your immune system, your nervous system, your brain, your lungs…! You need it! And coming out of winter, we are all probably a little deficient in vitamin d.

2. Cooking Dinner Daily

(I live in the bay area… I live a fast-paced lifestyle…)  I recently believed that cooking was not a good use of my time. I couldn’t justify being in the kitchen over working, studying, or creating something.  While I do enjoy cooking, I thought of it as a weekend thing.  Doesn’t it take forever to cook a meal? Not really…. actually…

What I’ve been doing lately: I buy 6 different cuts of protein: chicken breasts, ground beef, tilapia, salmon, a cut of beef, and the 6th is whatever else I’m feeling that week (shrimp, bacon, more chicken..).  Then I buy 6-7 different veggies: green beans, asparagus, zucchini, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower….

Then I pair a protein with a veggie — I’m not picky about it either — and boom! There it is.  It’s pretty simple – sometimes, I’ll add rice, potato or salad to a plate.

To my surprise, cooking a simple meal every day has NOT overwhelmed me or stolen my time.  I actually feel like I have a better grasp on life now that I’ve incorporated cooking a meal. lol. Takes 20 minutes + 2 pans + olive oil + my flavor creativity (garlic, onions, seasonings…) It has also forced me and my husband to sit and eat a fresh meal together – There is something special about that.

What about meal prep? Yes! we are major fans of meal prepping! That’s what we were doing before. While it’s great for fitness goals, I was using meal prepping as a way out of cooking daily.

Perks of cooking dinner daily:

  • A fresh meal
  • Eat together
  • Turns my day into night – I’m an entrepreneur and many days I work till late hours in the night with no pause.
  • Leftovers turn into tomorrow’s lunch meal prep.
  • I feel like I’m winning at life and being a wife (except jimmy likes to take over in the kitchen – He loves to cook – I don’t mind that at all)

3. Sticky Notes

2018 might have been one of the weirdest starts to a year. Sometimes it would seem like I couldn’t get my head on straight… and I’m pretty sharp… my head’s always on straight.  But THIS YEAR, I experienced my first anxiety attack. I was having trouble handling external pressures and I could not figure out how to organize my brain.

I tried all sorts of planners, journals, online todo lists… Nothing was really working or making me feel grounded.

THAT’S when I thought to simplify.  STICKY NOTES!!!

Every idea, to-do, campaign, strategy, goal, affirmation, —- I wrote on a sticky note and stuck it on my wall.

It was so gratifying to see everything that goes through my mind on my wall.

Here’s are some of the things I put on my wall.

  • Things to remember for taking care of my home
  • Health goals and strategy
  • Singing lesson plans
  • People to get back to
  • Finances to manage
  • Morning routine habits
  • Night routine habits
  • Business blogs to read
  • Courses to finish
  • All the parts to building funnels
  • All the parts of a marketing campaign
  • All the parts to integrating marketing platforms
  • Headline, Copy, Sales ideas
  • Videos to record and edit
  • Pictures to take and edit
  • Affirmations

Somehow, this gave me so much peace. To top it off, when I would complete a task, I’d remove that sticky note —- Not gonna lie, I think that feels even better than checking off a to do list.

And you know what else, seeing everything that I do made me proud of myself. It allowed me to validate my own feelings and overwhelm. I do a lot. I wear many hats. I love what I do. But girl…. better restrategize.

I’ve been doing the most self reflection I ever have in my entire life. I’ve analyzed every hour of my day, every emotion that comes with it, ever role I have, and job I have to do.

4.  A Blanket on the floor

This new habit happened at random. I couldn’t find my yoga mat so I grabbed a soft blanket instead.

A couple things happened:  1) Yoga, of course 2) Diaphragmatic breathing 3) Foam rolling 4) Mediation 5) Read more books 6) Napped with my dog

This blanket on the floor made room for things that helped me be more mindful and thoughtful of my body and breath.  I found that everything I did on this blanket made me grateful. Yoga centered me. Diaphragmatic breathing and foam rolling made me aware of my good health. Meditation took my mind to a place that made me ask questions like “how can serve more?” “What’s my purpose?”, “How can I love more?”. Books = knowledge…and who doesn’t get grateful for knowledge? And then there’s my dog, Moomoo… He made a dog lover out of me and I am so grateful for his love every day.

This blanket has become a special place for me.

5. Burning Candles

Why did I not do this more before?  I have been burning candles the whole month of April.  Day and night.  It just makes me feel good. I like to see it, smell it.

The main thing:  Having a candle lit seems to help remove any anxious feelings that I may have.

6. No Phones At Night

My husband Jimmy and I decided to take on the habit of not being on our phones an hour before bed. We do slip every here and there… however, the intention to remove our phones from the last hour of our evening together has been so rewarding. Doing this made room for great conversation but most of all …laughs!  Jimmy wakes up super early for work, so by 7-8pm he’s pretty delirious. This makes for some of the strangest times I’ve ever experienced. So many nights in this past month have ended with us laughing our faces off!

It’s easy to just spend the last part of your day scrolling… but I wonder what would happen if we ditched the scroll?  Would you read a delicious book, write a poem, play your guitar, draw, journal, have juicy conversation…  Try it. See what happens. Then tellllllmeeeeeee.

7. Affirmations

This goes back to the sticky notes and getting my brain together.  I have affirmation sticky notes all over the place now.

I’m all about the power of words, your voice, your mindset and the message you tell yourself.

The world is pretty loud and in your face – and most of the time the messages we hear are not so good. If you aren’t interrupting it with something you know is good, what do you think you are going to be focussing on?

Affirmations I’ve been telling myself:

I’m full of new ideas

I can solve any problem

I am here to serve

My body is strong and good to me

I will find the good in every moment

I am surrounded by good people

*I’m not making weak promises here – I’m feeding my mind good fuel. I am helping shift my worldview.

Here’s the opposite of all my affirmations (Which phrase do you tell yourself more?…subconsciously)

I’m full of new ideas  –  I don’t know what to do.

I can solve any problem – I can’t figure this out

I am here to serve I’m here to make something of myself

My body is strong and good to me – I’m so tired, my body isn’t being kind to me

I will find the good in every moment  – I wonder what sh*! will happen next?

I am surrounded by good people – Good people are hard to find these days.

The best thing about this post is that everything on this list is very simple. Anyone can do these things to improve the quality of their lives quickly and easily without much extra effort. They could be enjoying life that much more by just making a few changes and making good habits (see my post on how to kill bad habits). I especially love her affirmations and I totally use some of them now too! 🙂 I challenge you to choose at least one of the actions above and incorporate it into your own life so that you can get more enjoyment out of life as well! 🙂

To living your best life,

Alex 🙂

In Case You Forgot…

It is a beautiful day here on the blog today, don’t you think? But do you know what is even more beautiful? You! That’s right – you. Yes, you. No, not the person behind you. YOU.

It doesn’t matter what gender you are- you are beautiful! And DON’T let stupid false thoughts sneak in telling you any different! Now go think about how beautiful and amazing you are and how much you love yourself, and have a great day.

To you and your awesomeness,

Alex 🙂

Life Tools is Here!

IMG_3384.JPG

Hey guys!

This isn’t a typical article here on the blog today because…

My company called Life Tools is launching today!!

This is something that I have been working on for about 7 months now, and it is finally ready to launch! We are just starting with a single product, and then gradually we will be adding more soon.

After I got out of depression I became passionate about helping others do the same and ultimately live a life of happiness, inner peace, and success in all areas of life. One way I decided to do this is through writing books, but the most current way I have been working on is through a company I’m starting, called Life Tools.

So what exactly does Life Tools do, and what is the first product?

Through our products, Life Tools helps people free themselves from daily stress and anxiety, and promotes complete relaxation.

Our store is completely online and our first product is called Peace of Mind Proprietary Blend, and it helps people do just that! 🙂 It is a natural, herbal supplement that helps people relax and reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

I am really excited about this because I really think that this business will truly help people. I really want to help people have better lives through my company, while also following my own dream of owning a business.

Another thing I am excited about is that I am donating 10% of all profits to charity and research organizations to help people live better lives. Once the business gets up and running, we will be able to do things like go on a mission trip somewhere in the world to help others and invite a few customers along too. Or donate money to research on anxiety, stress, depression, etc. The more we understand it, the better and faster we can overcome it. Or start a non-profit to help people better their lives. The options are limitless, but I plan to make this business into something amazing. This 10% is not just a money donation, but also effective & active participation to help make this world a better place. 🙂

If you would like to check it out or support the launch, you can go to www.lifetoolsofficial.com

Or you can go straight to our first product: Peace of Mind Proprietary Blend.

If you want to get involved or learn more, you can email the company, or you can connect with the Instagram account @lifetools_official 🙂

To living a life of happiness and inner peace,

-Alex

PS- Go after your dreams even if they are scary! 🙂

Feelings in a Bottle

bottle-2318589_960_720

Hey!

It has been a while since I have written anything and I have to apologize for that. Lately, I just haven’t been able to write anything worth sharing. I would rather write nothing for months than just post anything here on the blog. I prefer to provide value instead of just lots of words and content. So anyways, that’s that.

The reason I have been feeling such a block is because I believe that I was blocked by my own self. I have been working through some of my own inner things lately and I believe that I needed to go through them before I could write again.

I’m sure that many can relate to what I am working through right now: A total process of detoxification and healing from bottled up feelings and emotions that have never been let out to see the light of day… until now! Ahhh!

Yes be afraid! But let those feelings out. Feel the fear and do it anyway! Everyone bottles up their feelings and emotions to some degree. And the truth is that if these are never released then you continue to carry their weight around with you forever… until you identify them and let them go.

You aren’t weak for showing feelings and emotion! You aren’t weak for letting yourself feel. Everyone has feelings and emotions. It takes a strong person to face up to their true feelings and sort through the hidden ones.

For those of you who can relate, here are some ways to begin ridding yourself of all the extra emotional weight you are carrying around!

  1. Talk about it! Find that one person who is always there for you, who is a good listener, and who is non-judgemental. It could be your spouse, a counselor, your sister, cousin, neighbor, parent, etc. Now that you know who that person is, talk to them about it! Just have them listen as you work through it. It is hard at first, but it gets easier with time and practice. If you are having trouble with this, then maybe my post about Big Talk will help you. 🙂
  2. Meditate with the intention to work through your pent-up emotions and feelings that you hold within your shadow self. This won’t be an easy meditation, and you will probably have to do multiple. But to really be able to understand it all within will be a huge step in the healing process. Understanding your feelings means that they don’t have power over you anymore.
  3. Write about it. Get it all out on paper. Write with the intention that no one will ever read it. These words are for your eyes only. That way you feel free to write whatever you need to get out. You can even use this when you have a hard time talking about your feelings to that someone in #1 above. You can write with the intention of nobody reading it and get it all out. Then you can decide that you want to share it with that person. It is an easier way to start talking about your feelings. But you have to write like no one will read it or you won’t work through it.
  4. Every time something happens that triggers something from your bottled up emotions, write down what was said/done and why it bothered you. Not the immediate reason that comes to your head, but the thought-out, real, deeper reason. This will lead you to your hidden feelings and emotions.

If you are honest with yourself and admit to yourself what you are truly feeling, then you are able to be light and free compared to the person who bottles it all up inside. Let me know if you want me to write more articles about these bottled up feelings and the healing process. 🙂

To becoming your best self,

-Alex 🙂

ps- another reason I haven’t been posting as frequently is because I am launching Life Tools with my team in a few short weeks! Life Tools helps people relax, unwind, and enjoy life through its “tools” (read: products), hence the name Life Tools. 🙂 Feel free to check it out if you want to. We are only launching one product right now, but there will be more soon! It’s going to be so awesome!

Big Talk

“The only thing keeping you from being happy is the belief that you are alone”

Big Talk is a movement that was started by Kalina Silverman to help bring people together and talk about what really matters in life.

I think that something we all need to do more is engage in Big Talk. It makes us happier, more fulfilled, and as a result of deeper conversation, we have a much richer and more active social life. Many people of all ages feel alone to some degree, and most are willing to connect if given the chance. The problem is that most people don’t know how to go about it, and are afraid of rejection or being perceived as strange for trying to make deeper conversation. It is up to each of us to reach out to others and make it happen. Not only will you feel good, but you will also learn so much about the other person. Who knows, you might even make some new close, lifelong friends… And what is life without people you care about to share it with? Part of that feeling of fulfillment is a happy and healthy social life, rich in deeply connecting with others and enjoying each other’s company.  A relationship is so much more meaningful and enjoyable when you really know the other person.

Now it’s your turn!

The Challenge:

Make Big Talk with one person today. It can be your friend, a stranger, a coworker, classmate, whoever!

Let me know how it went! Tell me about your experience in the comments. I’d love to hear all of the great stories that will come from this challenge.

*Note: if you don’t know what to ask, then Kalina also made a card game with different deep questions on each one. She has some pictures of the cards for examples, which you can look at and pick one to ask someone today.  You can also look around on this site here, as there are plenty of deep questions you could ask others. 🙂

We all think that we are more alone than we actually are. I know I have felt this way plenty of times. But if you stop and think about it, I bet you can find at least one or two people who really love and care about you (even if it is just your mom). Whenever I feel alone, I stop and ask myself,

“Who will always be there for me no matter what?”

This one question led me to notice that I actually have many people in my life who care and love me just as much as I love and care about them. I personally counted 7. Most of my suffering from feeling alone came from my own inaction. I wasn’t taking the time that was needed for each relationship to continue to thrive. I wasn’t taking these people for granted, but at the same time I was not putting as much proactive effort into keeping up close relationships with each of these people. I needed to take the initiative on my friendships and on the area of my social life.

It also made me realize that it is more fulfilling and meaningful to have a few friends whom you know and care about very deeply than tons of friends- all of whom you only know only on the surface. That will lead you to true loneliness quicker than anything else. I learned that the hard way. Keep the ones you love close.

Does this mean you can’t have any friends other than your closest friends? Of course not! I just mean that maintaining and engaging in those fewer but deeper relationships is going to bring you much more lasting happiness in your life, so focus on keeping those relationships happy, healthy, and consistent. Surface friends will bring you lots of fun, enjoyment, excitement, pleasure, and short-term happiness – which is great! We all need these feelings and emotions in our lives to some degree. But close friends will bring you the fulfillment, meaning, and lasting happiness we all truly want and need.  How do we become close to others? Make big talk!

To living your best life,

-Alex

ps- I am not endorsed in any way by Kalina Silverman for this post. I just love her movement and I think that it is something we all can improve at to make the world a better place. My goal through this blog is to help you be happy, healthy, and wealthy in all areas of your life. Making Big Talk can do this for your social life. Check out Kalina’s Ted Talk about Big Talk for more on the movement and the idea.

Take The Leap

Kjerag_BASE_jumping.jpg

For many of us, living our dream lives it is not a question of what we want- many of us already know the answer to that. It is more of a question as to whether or not we can believe in ourselves enough to do it. It’s all in our mindset. While we can live a lifestyle of living our best life every day, there are certain things that we might visualize ourselves doing in our dream lives which we are not doing at the moment.

When we think of what our best lives look like, many of us have some kind of big goal or dream that we have been putting off for a long time. These goals are probably crying out for attention. We really want to do it, and it causes us some stress that we haven’t done it yet, since we have been meaning to for so long. We also know that our dream life is not complete without attempting this pending dream that we have. Many people are scared to do what they know they need to do to live their best and most fulfilling life.

It is like if you are standing right at the ledge on top of a cliff, and everything you ever wanted was at the bottom of the cliff. There is no other way down but to jump. But you are afraid. What if something goes wrong? What if it hurts to land? It is hard to see everything at the bottom of the cliff clearly. What if it is not that great after all? How is this going to work out? You aren’t sure, so you try to find out for yourself. You read books all about the cliff. You ask others what they think. But you know that your questions and worries will only be answered if you jump. You are scared. All of this research took time, but ultimately, it is all up to you to find out. And now you are standing on the ledge, looking down. You can see all that you want below. You are so close that you can almost touch it! You really want it! And even though you are afraid of the unknown, you know what you have to do. You have to take the jump. You worry; you try to find an alternative to what you want. But deep down you know that the only way is to take the leap. Finally one day, you say enough is enough. No matter what, I am ready to go after what I want. You grab your parachute, shut your eyes tightly, and you jump off the cliff.

Usually, it is fear of the unknown that holds us back the most. Once you have jumped off the cliff, you will realize that you wasted a lot of time worrying and avoiding the cliff. Had you just jumped in the first place without over thinking, you would have been where you wanted to be a lot sooner, and saved your body, mind, and spirit a lot of stress. Procrastination, worry, doubt, and fear quickly lead to self doubt and unrest.

The leap is the unknown- the space between where you are and where you want to be in a goal. It is what everyone is so worried about before they jump. People get so focused on the process and the unknown that they forget to look at the results. They forget about what is at the bottom if they can just simply jump. Of course it is scary. Of course there will be things that you don’t know or don’t understand – you have never done it before! But once you take the leap, you are in motion. You are moving toward your goals and more into your dream life.

As you fall, you gain speed. You can see the ground getting closer and closer. Now you know that you are going to make it! The closer you get, the more you can see below. It looks similar to what you saw at the top of the cliff, but now you can see that there is way more here than you ever dreamed of having.

The process on the way down the cliff is not neccesarily an easy one. There are a lot of emotional and mental ups and downs, just like a roller coaster. But as long as you continue working patiently and persistently toward your goal, you will end up where you want to be. You just have to trust in yourself, and remind yourself that even if your goal or dream doesn’t work out the way you planned, it is better to try than to never know. It is never too late to change. You will always end up where you are meant to be.

And finally, you land. Now that you are on the ground you not only have a different perspective on everything you ever wanted, but also have a different perspective on life and on the cliff. Suddenly others are asking you what jumping from the cliff is like, trying to muster up their own courage to do it themselves. Although you went through good and bad times while you were falling down the cliff, the process was unique, beautiful, and so worth it. At the top of the cliff you had been living a happy and healthy life. Now you have your dream accomplished to enrich and enhance your life that much more.

Living your dream life is not just about living your happiest and healthiest life. It is also about realizing your dreams and making them a reality. These goals and dreams are just as important as being happy and healthy- in fact, they tie right in. If there is something that you have been really wanting to do in your life for a long time, it is time to take the leap. It is time to just do it. Jumping is the hardest part.

“An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.” – Newton’s first law of motion, also referred to as the law of inertia.

Take a minute to stop everything you are doing and really search your soul. When you look at what you want your life to look like, what do you see there that isn’t in your life right now? What dream or goal do you have that you have been putting off? If you have more than one goal, choose the one you want the most, or the one that has been put off the longest.

This is your work now. Don’t put it off any longer. Put aside your fears; they are never going to subside unless you take action. Just take the leap.

To living your best life and being your best self,

-Alex

The Power of Intention (Part 2)

In my previous post, The Power of Intention (Part 1), I shared a powerful article written by Carolyn Caputo. The post was a simple overview of the power of Intention and how it can benefit your life.

Today, I would like to dive a little deeper into the Power of Intention and talk about how you can use it in your own life.

Intention is the starting point of every dream. It is the creative power that fulfills all of our needs, whether for money, relationships, spiritual awakening, or love.

– Deepak Chopra

Intention comes from desire. When there is something that you want to do, the first thing you have to do is realize it! You must realize the ‘something’ that you want to do. This is intention. It is a directed impulse of consciousness that contains the beginning form of what you want to create. Your destiny is shaped by your deepest desires deepest intentions.

So, how can you use intention to get what you want in life?

Here is what I personally do:

A lot of the time, I am just going through my day when I realize something that I would like to have in my life. For example, here are some things I realized that I would like: more travel, money, better eating habits, less stress and clutter in life, simplicity, living my dream life, etc. These thoughts always occur when I am right in the middle of doing something like while I am driving or with friends. Instead of meditating about it later, or forgetting about it; all I do is take a few seconds (literally like 3 seconds) to center myself, maybe close my eyes, and simply ask for it in my head. I don’t have a single worry or doubt when I ask for it. I simply ask in hopes of receiving. Then (in my mind again) I say thank you. It is good to show gratitude. Of course, you can always ask for what you want out loud, but for me personally I like to do it in my head. This is because it is done fast enough to not let any doubts or negative feelings come up while I am asking for what I want, but it is slow enough for me to center myself and really focus on my intention. It is also my favorite method because and I don’t have to stop what I was just in the middle of doing, since sometimes I can’t, and I know that I’ll totally forget if I try to come back to doing my intention later.

That’s it. After that, I simply move on with my day, knowing that I have harnessed the power of Intention and done my work. Now all I have to do is wait for it to come back to me- and it always does. I always feel like it is so miraculous every time, but it always consistent. Be sure to be very thankful when your intention comes back to you.

I don’t always use this method to harness the power of intention. Sometimes I meditate for longer periods of time to really focus on something or multiple things that I would like to bring into (or extract from) my life. The hard part about longer meditation is to not try to figure out how you are going to get from where you are now to where you would like to be. That is the Universe’s job. When I meditate for the purpose of manifesting my desires, I like to use one of Deepak Chopra’s meditation guides. If you don’t know who Deepak Chopra is, then definitely check out his books. I have read a few of them myself and now I have the rest of his books lined up to read next! I find his words very inspiring and eye-opening and I always grow as a person from reading them. Here is one of his meditation methods to harness the power of Intention:

1. Slip into the gap.
Most of the time our mind is caught up in thoughts, emotions, and memories. Beyond this noisy internal dialogue is a state of pure awareness that is sometimes referred to as “the gap.” One of the most effective tools we have for entering the gap is meditation. Meditation takes you beyond the ego-mind into the silence and stillness of pure consciousness. This is the ideal state in which to plant your seeds of intention
2. Release your intentions and desires
Once you’re established in a state of restful awareness, release your intentions and desires. The best time to plant your intentions is during the period after meditation, while your awareness remains centered in the quiet field of all possibilities. After you set an intention, let it go — simply stop thinking about it. Continue this process for a few minutes after your meditation period each day.
3. Remain centered in a state of restful awareness
.
Intention is much more powerful when it comes from a place of contentment than if it arises from a sense of lack or need. Stay centered and refuse to be influenced by other people’s doubts or criticisms. Your higher self knows that everything is all right and will be all right, even without knowing the timing or the details of what will happen.
4. Detach from the outcome
.
Relinquish your rigid attachment to a specific result and live in the wisdom of uncertainty. Attachment is based on fear and insecurity, while detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of your true Self. Intend for everything to work out as it should, then let go and allow opportunities and openings to come your way.
5. Let the universe handle the details
.
Your focused intentions set the infinite organizing power of the universe in motion. Trust that infinite organizing power to orchestrate the complete fulfillment of your desires. Don’t listen to the voice that says that you have to be in charge, that obsessive vigilance is the only way to get anything done. The outcome that you try so hard to force may not be as good for you as the one that comes naturally. You have released your intentions into the fertile ground of pure potentiality, and they will bloom when the season is right.

Don’t expect it all to work right away. For example, if you used Intention to bring more happiness to yourself on a daily basis, don’t wake up the next morning frustrated that it didn’t work. It will come back to you when the time is right. Just let it go and be patient.

Start today. Keep your mind open to what you want, and practice simply asking for it with no worries. It takes some practice to harness the power of Intention, but with time you will be astounded with the wonders it can do for your life.

To living your best life,

-Alex

You know YOU have so much potential.

You have a big goals and dreams that YOU’RE craving to make reality.

But let’s be honest.

You’re tired.

  • Tired of working so hard.
  • Tired of the old emotional, mental and physical patterns that feel like torture to get through.
  • Tired of your analytical mind controlling your every move.
  • Tired of all the should’s and have to’s
  • Tired of struggling to just get by.

You know you deserve more.

You want more.

So what if I told you I had a little secret that would show you how to get it all, without having to do it all?

What if I told you achieving your goals was not about working harder or striving to be something or someone better?

What if I said your answer was simple….. intention.

Goals are great.  They keep us on track and are necessary for success. But they’re also focused on a fixed outcome. You place the power in creating your goal outside of yourself. It takes you out of the moment only to create that “I’m not enough feeling” or “I don’t have enough”.

Think about it, what would you be doing if you weren’t always trying to get somewhere or be someone?

How would you show up differently? How would you allow life to come to you instead of always chasing it?

Intention, on the other hand, isn’t about setting an ego-driven outcome. It’s not about losing weight because society says you should be thinner. It’s not about climbing that next mountain because everyone else it doing it.

It’s fully embodying your dream body, mind and spirit. It’s creating a harmony with your heart and mind and asking yourself what YOU truly want and why.

It’s a feeling. It’s trusting and knowing that whatever it is you’re desiring is already on it’s way to you.

Intention is allowing you to connect to your true self and let grace and ease guide you along the way.

Intention provides space for the “how” to flow to you instead of forcing, and trying so hard to make it happen. Which can cause us to get stuck in thinking it has to be a certain way to succeed.

Your life is up to you. You don’t have time to be living plan B. It’s your life. So why not make every part of it your adventure.

Creating your dream life starts with yourself. You have to be your dream self. You have to know and love yourself unconditionally before you will be able to love your life.

One of my favorite parts from Carolyn’s post is when she asks,

“What would you be doing if you weren’t always trying to get somewhere or be someone?”

Really think about this. Meditate on it. Sleep on it. What would you truthfully be doing? We are always trying so hard to go as fast as we possibly can, and we never even seem to stop and question what we are doing or why. Today I am going to leave you with this question to contemplate and explore.

To living your best life,

-Alex

Welcome! Say Hello To Your Dream Life!

Welcome to my blog!

To be honest, I had no idea what to write for my first blog post. I knew I wanted to help people live their dream lives, but it took me weeks to figure out where to start. But the more I thought about it, the clearer it all became.

The Beginning:

It all started about four years ago. I became clinically depressed that year, and for about a year I felt so dead and dull that nothing mattered to me anymore. After about 6 months of depression, I realized my condition and decided that if I didn’t do anything, it would never get better. In fact, it would probably continue to get much worse. So right then, I decided that enough was enough. I decided that I would do anything and everything to get out of depression once and for all, and never fall back into it again. I had nothing to lose, so I went for it relentlessly. It was very difficult and it took some time to overcome- about 6months- but I did it! I have never been back to that dark place, and I am positive that I never will be back there ever again. Now I am out of depression for good!

This is when I realized that my life had been renewed. I had been feeling pretty much dead for a whole year, but now I felt so alive. I couldn’t wait to see what my future had to offer me, and I was so much stronger and happier because of this challenging past experience. From that point on, I promised myself to live my life to the fullest every day. I promised myself to accomplish my dreams, have fun, and to go after everything I ever wanted because life is short and life is what you make it!

Today:

This leads me to right now. The present moment. What a wonderful time to be alive! You are blessed every day with a brand new 24 hours to live your life. But one day, those 24 hours will not be given out to you. One day, you will pass, but for now you are here on this Earth. Think about your 24 hours. How do you spend it? Really ask yourself this question. How much time do you spend eating? Driving maybe? Working? Going to school? What about leisure? Working out? Hanging out with family/friends? Etc. Think about absolutely everything you can come up with in your day. The results may surprise you.

Once you have a pretty good idea of how much time you spend doing each thing every day, ask yourself this: Is this how I want to spend my day? In other words, how much of your day do you spend doing things you dislike? Is it 10%, 50%, 90%? What things specifically do you dislike doing each day? Many people find that they are spending huge amounts of time every day doing things they don’t care about, or don’t like doing at all.

No matter how what your answers were above, ask yourself this: what would be my ideal day? In other words, what does your perfect dream day look like? Don’t get caught up on the time, location, money, or any other potential ‘setbacks’. Let your mind explore and imagine. Let yourself dream.

Now I want you to ask yourself one more question. If time or money were not an issue, what would you do? Really ask yourself this question. If you could do absolutely anything you wanted to do in life right now- with no restrictions- what would you do? This is probably one of the best questions you can ask yourself to find out what you really want from life. Whenever I feel off track, I ask myself this question. You will most likely realize that your answer is not completely what you expected it to be. (Note: If you are having trouble answering this question, check out my post called What Would You Do? for some ideas.)

It always surprises me how many people have never asked themselves these questions before. These questions have not only kept my life on track and in line with my goals, but they have also allowed me to guard my time and use it well. As a result, I have accomplished so many things that I have always wanted to do within a very short amount of time. I have no doubt that these questions can do the same for you!
